Jump Start Training

Get Ready with The Jumpstart Program!
In an effort to help international students prepare for SPEA’s Masters’ degree programs and the mandatory English Proficiency Exam, SPEA has developed and is pleased to offer a Jumpstart Program Training (JPT).

This training is delivered by teaching staff from Indiana University's Intensive English Program (IEP) and was developed around the course requisites of SPEA’s Masters’ degree programs.

JPT is designed to prepare international students for SPEA’s core courses.   Our goal is to help entering international students' performance on the English proficiency exam before the rigorous demands of the core coursework begin.

Course Information
JPT is a four-week preparatory program that uses teaching resources provided by SPEA faculty and focuses on reading and writing proficiency specifically oriented around the skill sets necessary to succeed in the coursework of SPEA's masters' curricula.

The course will be held July 14 through August 8, 2008. Space is limited to 15 students and, thus, registration is open only on a first come-first serve basis. The full course will cost $1665 in tuition plus a $100 application fee.  A nonrefundable deposit of $300 is due with the application, and the remaining $1465 is due at registration after arrival in the US.  Application and instructions for submission are attached.  Applications are DUE May 15, 2008.

Travel Documentation
Travel documentation will be issued by IEP. SPEA's Jumpstart Program Training will be immediately followed by Indiana University's International Student Orientation/SPEA's Math Camp (mentioned in your admission letter and offered in the same week) and SPEA's mandatory program orientation.

Questions about the course should be directed to the Intensive English Language Program by e-mail at iep@indiana.edu or by phone at 812-855-6457.
