International Internship-Study-Research Scholarship
The
SPEA Scholarship for International Internship-Study-Research
awards of up to $2,500 are available on a competitive basis for Master’s
students seeking support to pursue relevant international, experiential,
and/or academic opportunities that will enhance their degree programs
in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA). Scholarships
are funded by SPEA and support student-directed off-campus international
activities in areas that do not duplicate opportunities or coursework
available through the applicant’s home campus. Upon return to
SPEA, the recipient is required to share with the SPEA community their
experience made possible, in part, by the award.
Awards may be granted in the form of travel expense reimbursement or
tuition credit to the recipient’s Bursar account.

Review Process
A committee comprised of a SPEA faculty member, the Director of Graduate Student Services,
Coordinator of Admissions and Financial Aid, the graduate assistant for international student services,
a representative from Career Services, and two past scholarship recipients will review applications
for the scholarship. Evaluators will consider scholastic achievement, quality of identified program,
validity and feasibility of the proposal, faculty support as indicated by letter(s) of reference,
other funding received, and impact the experience will have on the applicant's academic and/or professional goals.
Deadline
February 1 for travel the following
summer.
Decisions will be made by March 1.
