Allen F. Anderson

Allen F. Anderson has worked on HIV/AIDS transmission and control issues in the People’s Republic of China for fifteen years. He serves as an on-going consultant to the Chinese Foundation for the Prevention of STD & AIDS, Beijing, and the Jilin Province Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He has also served as a consultant to the Chinese Ministry of Justice concerning AIDS control in the prison population. In addition to his research, Anderson has lectured broadly in China on HIV issues, including major presentations at both the Beijing and Nanning Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Anderson received his Ph.D. in 1984 from Southern Illinois University and a certification in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2004). He has also continued his studies in epidemiology at the University of Michigan and Johns Hopkins University. Recent publications appear in AIDS Care and Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology. He has forthcoming publications in AIDS Patient Care and STDs and the Chinese Journal of HIV and STD Prevention. Currently, he is collaborating in China with the Jilin Province Institute for AIDS Prevention, Jilin Center for Disease Control and Prevention, on projects related to the social, physical, and emotional well-being of the children of HIV/AIDS patients, as well as compliance issues related to the rural delivery of highly active antiretroviral therapy.
