M.A. Curriculum in Speech-Language
Required Courses
- S501: Neural Bases of Speech and Language (3) [taught in fall]
- S505: Clinical Application of Linguistic Theory (4) [taught in fall]
- S580: Introduction to Graduate Study and Research (3) [taught in
fall]
- S508: Physiological Models for Perception and Production of Speech
and Voice (3) [taught in spring]
- S512: Cognitive and Social Factors Related to Speech and Language
(3) [taught in spring]
- S561: Topical Issues in Clinical Practice [one credit of practicum every semester]
Elective Courses
All disorders courses will be 2 or 3 credits and will be taught as
electives. Students must take at least 20 semester credit hours of
electives:
- Two courses from speech/voice, two from language, and
one from “other”
- Remaining undesignated electives, to be taken from any areas of
the curriculum
- One credit of practicum every semester
