R. Danielle ("Dani") Scott, SPHS Master's student, was awarded the 2014 Student Research Award from the National Black Association of Speech Language and Hearing and also received Honors for Outstanding Membership from the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Lauren McKinney, a senior SPHS major, is the recipient of the 2014 Kate Hevner Mueller Outstanding Senior Award! This award recognizes "students who have left the campus better than they found it." Lauren’s commitment to academic and co-curricular involvement has been demonstrated in her student leadership and service to Indiana University-Bloomington. Congratulations to Lauren on this great achievement.
With this issue of Observations we are continuing the tradition of an annual newsletter for SPHS.
Two of our MA students in Speech-Language Pathology, Alexandra Mateu-Martin and R. Danielle Scott, have been selected as participants in the ASHA’s Minority Student Leadership Program (MSLP) Class of 2013.
As a culminating experience to a practicum placement at Eastern Greene Middle School, graduate student clinicians invited fifth graders to visit the SPHS building and IU campus. Fifth graders participated in a scavenger hunt and explored the various majors offered by IU.
