Teaching Responsibilities/Interests

I am responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in American Sign Language (ASL). I have taught all four levels of ASL [A100, A150, A200, and A300]. I am presently teaching A200 and A300. My teaching responsibilities concentrate on the development of conversation structure. This level examines the more complex grammatical structures, with emphasis on ability to use these structures in conversation. I also cover characteristics of the Deaf population and cultural differences. A300 students experience the language outside the classroom through interaction with the Deaf community.

My interests extend to developing an ASL Symposium and Total Immersion Program at Indiana University. My goal is to share the language, culture and history of the Deaf to Indiana University students.
