Are you interested in participating in a research

We are currently recruiting adults and children for several studies. Below is general information about the types of studies we conduct in the Speech Perception Lab

We test adult native and non-native English speakers for speech perception studies.
  • Participants visit the Speech Perception Lab in the Speech and Hearing Sciences Department up to 3 times for visits that last between 1 and 2 hours each.
  • Participants complete language background and experience questionnaires, listen to beeps of different pitches and press a button, listen to words and/or sentences and be asked to type in what they heard, make a judgment on a numerical scale about the speech, arrange items on a screen, repeat back what they heard and/or answer questions about what they heard by selecting an answer on the screen, and/or participate in a passage comprehension test.

We test monolingual child participants between the ages of 5 and 15 years with normal hearing for speech perception studies.

If you are interested in participating in one of our studies, you should contact Tessa Bent, the principal investigator. She can be reached by phone (812-856-3279) or by e-mail (tbent at indiana dot edu).
