ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Work Description

Oversee the recreation operations of the Parks and Recreation Department.

Management Responsibilities

Supervision of 200 full-time and year-round part-time employees. Oversee and direct operations of facilities and programs, including community recreation centers, outdoor ice rinks, environmental center and nature preserve, special events, and swimming pools. Develop and direct strategic planning efforts, operating budgets, direct sponsorship, and fund development strategies. Approve and direct major city-wide special events and activities, direct and oversee park planning initiatives; reviews legislative issues.

Education & Training

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Parks & Recreation Management. Master's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration preferred. Must have at least 8 years progressive experience in an urban park and recreation department setting.

Required Certifications

Certified Leisure Professional preferred

Salary

$45,000-$52,000
