The Speech Research Laboratory (SRL) is under
the direction of Professor
David Pisoni. Professor Pisoni is one of the leading figures
in the field of speech perception and spoken language processing.
Under his direction for almost twenty-five years, the SRL has developed
a broad research program on a range of problems dealing with speech
perception, spoken word recognition, language comprehension and
perceptual development.
The laboratory is equipped with extensive hardware and software
for presenting complex acoustic signals to subjects and recording
their responses in real-time. Microcomputers are used for perceptual
experiments with human observers. There are also extensive computer
resources for analyzing acoustic waveforms and generating experimental
signals with a variety of speech synthesizers. |
