Sheila
Corbin - Fourth Grade Teacher, Valley Mills Elementary
Leadership Team Member
Sheila
joined the staff at Valley Mills Elementary School in 1987 and has
since taught several grade levels. She received her Bachelor's degree
from Ball State University and her Master's degree in Curriculum
and Instruction from the University of Indianapolis.
Sheila
has been involved in many professional development experiences including
Cooperative Learning, Critical Elements of Instruction, Literacy
Strategies, National Boards for Certification of Teachers, and Alternative
and Portfolio Assessment to name a few. She has served on both district
and school based committees and has sponsored several clubs, community
service and other activities for student groups.
Sheila
is especially proud of having developed and implemented a summer
program called Incredible Journey. Sheila was named District Teacher
of the Year in 2002 and was also a Disney Teacher of the Year nominee
and recipient of an Academic Recognition Award in 2000. Sheila says, "Teaching completes me. I hope that I am truly making a positive
difference in my students' lives forever." Sheila finds working
with the Leadership Team invigorating because it is such important
work that will lead the school district into the future.
