Rose Hootman - Teacher, Decatur Middle School, MSD of Decatur
Township, Co-President Decatur Education Association
Leadership Team, Core Member

Rose has been an educator for 24 years, 22 of those years in Decatur Township schools. She received her BS in Elementary Education and MS in Special Education from Indiana University. She is married to Glen, a retired Director of Office Services at Boone County REMC, and they are the proud parents of six children and 13 grandchildren. Rose enjoys travel, gardening, reading and activities with the grandchildren. Through her affiliation with the Decatur Education Association, she has actively sought and supported a collaborative relationship among teachers, administrators, and community members of Decatur Township. Rose is very excited about the potential for the improvement of learning for all students that will result from the systemic change effort occurring through the partnership with the Department of Education at Indiana University. She eagerly anticipates the opportunity to participate in the program design of the new Intermediate Schools and looks forward to teaching in one of the buildings. She strongly believes that all Decatur Township schools are quickly becoming models of substantive reform and excellence.
