In 1998-99 she was the recipient of the Gerald DeWitt Award from Butler University and was also named the Indiana Demolay Teacher of the Year. West Newton Elementary School, where Janet serves as principal, was named a National Blue Ribbon School during the 1998-99 school year.

Janet is married to Marty Larch, a Decatur Township business owner, and has three sons. Her oldest son is a Decatur graduate and her two younger sons attend Decatur Central High School and West Newton Elementary. Her family also includes a lovely daughter-in-law and a beautiful granddaughter. Janet is currently completing her doctorate at Indiana State University.
