E100 Advanced T'ai Chi Ch'uan
Syllabus

Week 1
Form practice and corrections for the first 20 movements of William C.C. Chen's Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan solo form. From applications for the following movements: Preparation, Beginning, Ward off with Left Hand, Ward off with Right Hand. 

Form applications for this course will promote body coordination and reinforce form corrections given by the instructor. These applications will also serve to teach situational self-defense. Students have been introduced to many of these applications 
in previous classes and this course will cover these applications in a more detailed manner to further clarify the form practice and corrections given by the instructor.

Week 2
Applications will be reviewed from the previous class and new applications for Roll Away, Press and Push movements will be introduced

Week 3
Form review, corrections and practice. Form applications for Single Whip, Lifting the Hands and Shoulder Strike will be introduced.

Week 4
Form review, corrections and practice. Form applications for Cross Over the Knee, Playing the Guitar and Cross Over the Knee will be introduced. 

Week 5
Form review, corrections and practice. Form applications for Step Up, Deflect, Intercept and Punch, Get the Needle at the Sea Bottom, Spread Arm like a Fan.

Week 6
Form review, corrections and practice. Form applications for Turn and Strike with Back Fist, Chop with Fingers will be introduced.

Week 7
Form review, corrections and practice. Form applications for Withdraw and Push will be introduced.

Week 8
Form review, corrections and practice.
Midterm exam.

Week 9
Form practice, review and corrections for the second section of William C.C. Chen's Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan solo form. From applications for the following movements will be introduced: Crossing Hands, Retreat to Mountain Camp for Rematch, Diagonal Single Whip, A Fist Under Elbow, Step Back to Drive the Monkey Away.

Week 10
Form review, corrections and practice. From applications for the following movements will be introduced: Waving Hands in the Clouds, Snake Creeps Down, Golden Pheasant Stands on Left Leg, Golden Pheasant Stands on Right Leg, Kick with Right foot, Kick with Left Leg, Turn Around and Strike with Heel, Step up and Strike with Fist, Strike Ears with Fists.

Week 11
Form review, corrections and practice. From applications for the following movements will be introduced: Fair Lady at the Shuttle, Step Back and Strike the Tiger, Turn around with the Lotus Kick, Bend the Bow to Shoot the Tiger.

Sword form review, corrections and practice.

Week 12
Sword Form review, corrections and practice. 

Week 13
Sword Form review, corrections and practice. 

Week 14
Form, Sword form practice, corrections and review. Da-Lu practice.

Week 15
Form, Sword form practice, corrections and review. Da-Lu practice.
