Pearce, Instructor
Course Description
T'ui Shou was originally designed as a training level between solo forms
and high impact two-person interaction. It offers very special attentional
training which requires enough mental and physical flexibility to observe
and participate in the movement and intent of another person. An integral
part of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, it models fundemental Taoist and Chan Buddhist
philosophical concepts in the form of a physical activity. This T'ui Shou
Course focuses on Master Chen's basic neutralizing and throwing techniques
as well as Da Liu, 4 forms and other basic push hands exercises. Additional
techniques and concepts from Dr. Tao Ping-Siang, Peter Ralston and Don
Burns are included.
