The second section of the IU Teaching Handbook, Teaching Methods, discusses specific instructional methodologies, including lecturing, facilitating discussions, group work, assessing student performance, using case studies, managing science labs, and teaching with technology.

The third and last section of the IU Teaching Handbook, Creating a Positive Environment, describes strategies for creating a positive environment in the classroom to ensure diversity, civility, and ethical behavior.
