Joan Middendorf Co-director of Freshman Learning Project, Associate Director of Campus Instructional Consulting (CIC). With a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, she has taught faculty and instructors at IU to assess and improve their teaching by presenting workshops, observing classroom teaching, and collaborating on course development and testing procedures. She has traveled to South Africa several times to train staff at universities and in the health care field to adapt their teaching to an influx of diverse students. David Pace Co-director of Freshman Learning Project, Associate Professor of the History Department, Indiana Univeristy at Bloomington. He was the 1994 recipient of the Frederick Bachman Lieber Award for Distinguished Teaching. Currently he is a Pew Fellow in the Carnegie Academy of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. He has been involved in a wide-range of curricular reforms, including the I.U.B. History Department' s A.I. and Preparing Future Faculty programs and the RUGS College Pedagogy Initiative, and has led faculty development workshops. Email address: dpace@indiana.edu |

Jennifer Meta Robinson Jennifer directs Campus Instructional Consulting and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Initiative at Indiana University Bloomington. She collaborates with individuals and groups of the faculty at IU to identify and achieve their teaching goals. Much of her work cultivates the systematic study of teaching and learning in order to deepen our knowledge of successful practices in particular disciplines. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University. From the English Department there, she received the Teaching Excellence Recognition Award in 1997 and the Noyes Fellowship for outstanding teaching in 1995. In addition to publishing and presenting on scholarly issues in teaching and learning, she publishes critical essays on literature and folklore with a special focus on gender issues.
