Biography:

Ratnadeep Suri (Ratan) is currently a PhD Candidate in the Department of
Telecommunications with a minor in Library and Information Science. Earlier
he earned a Masters Degree in Development Communication and Television
Production from University of Hyderabad, India, and a Masters Degree in
Communication from Western Michigan University, Michigan. Prior to his
schooling in the United States he has also worked on several television
production ventures in India, and as an Associate Editor for an IT magazine
in India. Currently his Doctoral research work focuses on conceptualizing
Internet and other telecom networks as social spaces. Beyond his academic
pursuits, Ratan is an active member of the Monroe County RC flying club and
a trainee RC pilot. He enjoys building functional RC scale models of
aircrafts and race boats. In addition Ratan also enjoys white water rafting
and paragliding.

Currently Ratan is teaching a course in Social Informatics in the Department
of Informatics, Indiana University. More information about this course can
