Telecom Internship Opportunities

An internship is supervised practical training in an industry setting. It fills the gap between the academic and professional worlds.

Most credited internships are taken in your junior or senior year of study. An internship can serve as a practical cap to your formal education. Your intern supervisor will be one of the strongest references on your graduation resume.

Internship for academic credit
Most industry intern supervisors insist that student interns receive academic credit. The Telecom Department must certify to them that registration for credit has been or will be made for a specific semester.

Students may earn 1 to 3 credits in the course T497 for an approved industry internship experience. The Department of Telecommunications requires a minimum of 50 hours of work for each academic credit-hour. Students typically serve more than the minimum number of hours.

You must be at least a junior (56 credit hours) in good standing, and you must have completed at least 12 credit hours of coursework in Telecommunications before the internship begins.

You can download the Internship Application. For more information on available internships, visit the Telecom Resource Room, RTV 240, or speak to one of our undergraduate advisors.
