Assistant Professor, joined IU, 2008. Member of the Graduate Faculty. B.S. Northeastern University, 2002; M.A., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2004; Ph.D., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Speech Communication), 2008. Research interests: the social and psychological effects of mass media on children and adolescents. Teaching interests: social and psychological effects of the mass media on youth, impact of media violence, gender and the media. Current projects include an experiment examining tweens' moral evaluations of hostile interactions in tween sitcoms, a content analysis of teen pregnancy reality programming, and a content analysis examining news coverage of media violence research. Publications: articles in Communication Monographs, Health Communication, New Media & Society, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Body Image, Journal of Communication, Communication Research, and Human Communication Research.
