We welcome Scott LaFeber as a visiting guest artist and the director of our production of Happy Birthday, Wanda June.

Wanda June was the first produced play by author Kurt Vonnegut Jr., who approached the play, he has recalled, with the idea of abandoning the short story and the novel for a life as a playwright. He found the process more difficult than he had imagined, recalling that writing a piece for the theatre was like extracting for "moonbeams from excrement," which is the title of John Woodcock's pre-show talk, given in the Wells-Metz Theatre on December 3 at 3:00 P.M.

Our Audience Development office has provided a useful summary of Happy Birthday, Wanda June, which we reproduce for your general information.
