In January 2002, IU opened the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center on the Bloomington campus, adjacent to the old Theatre Building. The building is beautifully designed, and provides state-of-the-art technology, expansive and well-planned workshops, spacious directing and acting studios, and two vital, new performance spaces.

Below are links that describe the classrooms, studios, theatres, and offices of the Department of Theatre and Drama and the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center. If you are interested in the layout of the facility, the map of the center will provide you with a walking tour of the building.

When state funds are available, the second phase of the new Theatre and Drama Center will come into being: the remodeling and renovation of the Theatre Building, which is adjacent to the new center. The remodeled Theatre Building will include a black box theatre, dedicated to student work and independent projects. New classrooms and studios dedicated to movement, voice, and scene preparation will be constructed.

Meanwhile the Theatre Building still supports the work and teaching of the department with a seminar room, four classrooms, and support offices. The old T300 Studio Theatre has been re-floored and converted into an acting studio and classroom, as has the University Theatre stage, which serves as the departments workshop space until the major remodeling begins.
