Anne Bogart, Professor

In 1995, Ms. Bogart was invited as the 31st Ralph L. Collins Memorial Lecturer. She gave two presentations. The first was titled The Role of Personal Violence in the Creative Act and the second one was titled Six Lessons: What I Know About Being an Artist in the American Theatre.

Anne Bogart is a professor at Columbia University and co-founder of Via Theatre which is dedicated to the support of young theatre artists. She is the Artistic Director of the Saratoga International Theatre Institute which she founded with Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki. View points, her methodology of acting, creating movement, and staging plays is taught across the country. She received her first Obie Award for her off-Broadway creation of a Brecht piece entitled No Plays, No Poetry and her second for Paula Vogels The Baltimore Waltz. She has directed over sixty productions throughout the country.
