About Wells and Metz

Music by James Rubio
Book and Lyrics by Katie Baldwin Eng
Directed and Choreographed by George Pinney

Once upon a time, several days from now in the Wells-Metz Theater, The Day Boy and the Night Girl makes its debut: will you be there? The latest new musical in the IU Department of Theater and Drama’s Premiere Musicals series, this adult fairytale centers on how past experiences influence decisions in our future. A witch takes in two infants, a boy and a girl, in order to raise them in an experiment. The boy will grow in the light, be taught to run and hunt and be home before nightfall. The girl will grow in the night, be taught music with only a single lamp for light and never be allowed outside. When they are old enough to disobey the witch that is exactly what they do. Emmy-award winning choreographer George Pinney directs this adaptation of George MacDonald’s 19th century fairy tale with words by Katie Baldwin Eng and music by James Rubio. The Day Boy and the Night Girl plays August 28th-31st.
