Objectives of TIFCU

The learning activity level for this program is intermediate. The objectives of TIFCU are to provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive tax training with respect to college and university tax compliance and planning, for college and university business officers, accountants, lawyers, and financial advisors. Upon completion of the TIFCU 2009 program, the participant should be able to recognize tax situations that arise in their daily work with respect to colleges and universities and then be able to apply the information presented in this course. The participant will be presented with information that will help define recent tax legislation and guidance that the participant can use in fulfilling the tax compliance obligations of a college and university.

The prerequisites for this learning experience would include an understanding of tax and accounting situations specific to colleges and universities. This would also include the participant to have some background with tax compliance and planning for colleges and universities as an employee of the organization or as an outside consultant such as an accountant, lawyer, or financial advisor. There is no advanced preparation required for this seminar.
