The course has the following objectives:

    1. Provide an overview and a context for understanding and using MEDIATION.

      First Weekend Schedule

      1. Introduction and Overview
      2. Students Assessment of Goals
        1. Make a list of your professional interests that may be influenced by Mediation skills. (i.e., schools, couples, families, business situations, etc.)
        2. From your list, select at least two and not more than five terms to be used as keywords in combination with Mediation in a literature search.
        3. During the first session Friday evening, execute a data search, using the key terms on three data bases; All these searches can be conducted in less than an hour in the School of Education Library. Bring a 3.5 inch diskette to record the results of your search. The librarian can assist you if you are unfamiliar with the process.
        4. Bring the results of your search on the diskette and a single print copy of two or three sample documents (chapters or articles) from your search to share your findings with the class.

      1. To provide a synthesis of the weekend activities and the literature review you have conducted, after the weekend, write a short paper (less than 500 words), describing how you might integrate the skills you have acquired into your professional practice.
