exhibit panel
In March, 2006, Traditional Arts Indiana began the rotating exhibit network by installing eight exhibit panels across the state depicting the traditional expressions and folklife of Indiana. Since then, the number of panels and venues hosting these panels has increased considerably. The traveling panels each spend two months at participating public libraries and museums and then rotate to other sites.

Visually appealing, with colorful photographs and bold texts, the panels tell a story of individuals and communities who draw meaning and strength from their work, their creativity and their sense of connection to a relevant past. They focus on different aspects of regional culture including domestic arts, small businesses and traditional occupations. They also showcase the programs offered by Traditional Arts Indiana, such as the Indiana Apprenticeship Program and Indiana State Fair Masters.

Funding for this project comes from Traditional Arts Indiana, the Indiana Arts Commission, Indiana University, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

There is NO CHARGE for the panels or this service. The panel rolls up into a 3 foot tube. When open, it is about 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide and has its own stand. To be included as a rotating exhibit venue, e-mail TAI at tradarts@indiana.edu, call (812) 855-0418, or download this exhibit application form (.doc file).
