GERRY GRAY and the REUNION FAMILY STRING BAND
"The Family Reunion String Band is a family of musicians dedicated to the preservation and presentation of old-time music to those who visit the Pioneer Village at the Indiana State Fair. Invited by Mr. Mauri Williamson in 1975, I sat in the Barn on an old tractor seat and sang, played dulcimer, and talked to the visitors.
One by one, other musicians came to play. From 1984 through 1998, Jerry L. Hammons was the group's co-leader. In the early 80's, a Michigan musician said it was like coming to a family reunion when he came to play at the Fair. So we became "The Family Reunion String Band." In 2004 we turned over stage management to Bill Bailey. In 2005 we received an award from the State Fair for, '30 years of continuous service.'
Today's band is made up of Tull Glazener, Gerry Gray, Jon Hall, Edwin Layer, Ray McQuern, Dixie Wilson, and newest members, Don and Gladys Allen. Doyle Essig is our stage manager. Retired members are Jerry L. Hammons, Don and Lenora Bowlby, Mary Jane Weathers, and Larry Kersey."

DONNA JO COPELAND, Spinner and weaver
Donna Joe Copeland has exhibited textiles for forty years at the Indiana State Fair, winning numerous awards and gaining recognition for the distinct style of her creations. At the knee of her great grandmother, she learned the skills of knitting, tatting, flat patternwork, and sewing. After purchasing a loom, she taught herself to spin and weave. Taking inspiration from the materials she produces on her farm, she creates between 20 and 25 entries every year for the fair. With her daughter and granddaughter, she is now part of three generations who continue the traditions of needlework at the State Fair.
