Morceau Symphonique

Welcome to the

Lenthe Lessons

A work in progress.......

Welcome to LentheLessons online! This project is constructed to give ambitious students of the trombone specific stylistic,  interpretive, and technical suggestions, insights, and motivation in preparing and practicing the four frequently demanded audition and contest pieces for the trombone as listed in the links bar on the left. Mp3 samples will be added to underscore the suggestions, enabling the student to hear the various exercises - or even play along! There will be multiple lessons for each piece, and the possibility of critiquing mp3 files submitted by students is being explored. This is an initial attempt at distance teaching in applied music!

That being said, however, I must stress the fact that media of this nature can never replace the traditional one-on-one teaching as practiced since generations and centuries in applied instrumental music. Please, if you haven't already, search out an excellent teacher and work with him or her regularly.

The mp3 excerpts found on the pages (marked with the tenor clef sign) are taken from a CD recorded by Carl Lenthe and pianist Ashley Toms, available from Summit Records. If desired, an autographed copy can be obtained by clicking here.

The mp3 samples are formatted to work in two ways, depending upon your browser configuration and preference. The media bar should function with your browser's default player. The "click here" link should offer a further opportunity to play these files.

So -- if you have stumbled into these pages in their current work-in-progress form, please revisit as they grow! Your feedback, sent to Carl Lenthe will help in further planning and construction of these online lessons.

                Thank you!
