Excerpt Collection

Our IU JSoM Trombone Department collection of orchestra and band excerpts has grown - and will continue to - as ensemble auditions demand. It is by no means exhaustive, comprehensive, or necessarily definitive, and is offered here in its own random fashion as one of many possible sources. Students of the trombone should also be aware of further, excellent, resources such as the

Online Trombone Journal

yeodoug.com (bass trombone)

Cherry Classics Low Brass Excerpt Collection

As always in your study of ensemble literature, the actual printed excerpts are the least significant part of the exercise. If you can play the trombone, you will be able to play the notes in these excerpts! It is far more important to study the works in their entirety, through listening to live and recorded performances and reading scores.

These excerpts are made availablesolely for the audition use and educational benefit of Indiana University School of Music students, in accordance with

the U.S. Copyrght Law, chapter 1, section 107.
