The Sunday Bloomington Herald-Times has noted:

"...Lenthe not only had put together an interesting and pleasant program, but he had molded the players into a unit, finalizing his tutelage with a conducting technique of clear signals...", "...a nicely realized concert.", "...the trombone as an instrument worthy of note.", "...expressive items swinging gingerly between old-fashioned and new-fangled musical styles, the program held points of interest.", "...resoundingly well-played.", "...the choir of trombones surprisingly approximated the qualities of human voices.", and "...a fun program."

The Indiana Daily Student wrote:

Information

 

Spring 2012

Rehearsals will be most Wednesdays at 4-6pm in MA452 with occasional special rehearsals. Members are expected to participate in all rehearsals leading up to the each performance. 

 

 

Auditions

Auditions will be held on Monday, 8/20/2012 beginning at 6:30pm in MA452.  To sign up for these auditions please email Eric Rogers.  He will assign the next available time to you.

 

Audition repertoire (total 4 minutes): contrasting etude, concerto and/or excerpt selections, all major scales, sight-reading.

 

 

Expectations of Ensemble members include:

 

- Prompt enrollment in Trombone Choir (upon authorization).
- A positive, constructive ensemble attitude
- Professional conduct
- Preparation for rehearsals, as necessary
- Timely arrival at rehearsals, being ready to play at the assigned time
- Reliable participation in concerts and other scheduled events
- Responsible use of printed materials

Absence from rehearsal must be approved in advance, and an adequate substitute arranged with Prof. Lenthe. Each unexcused rehearsal absence will result in a grade reduction.

 

Enrollment

Following a successful audition, you will receive authorization to enroll in trombone choir. Course numbers are F445 28715 (Undergrad) or F545 28716 (Grad) Brass Chamber Ensemble.

Of interest especially to grad students: This is normally a one cr. hr. course, but can be taken for zero cr. hr. if not needed for chamber music credit. 

Please refer to the JSoM Bulletin or contact the undergrad or grad offices for information on how this course may be used in fulfilling your chamber music requirements (as applicable).
