I.         GENERAL BUSINESS

A.        Trustee Business

1.       Report on the trustee election of June 30, 2007:

Sue H. Talbot has been reelected by the Alumni of Indiana University to serve as trustee for the term beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2010. Votes were cast as follows:

A total of 1,741 envelopes were declared invalid due to lack of signatures and 109 ballots and/or envelopes were voided on the day of the election. Of those 33 were blank, 51 voted for more than one candidate, 10 were empty, and 5 contained notes explaining that the alumna/us was deceased. Additionally, 10 ballots fell into an "Other" category, write-in candidates, address changes with no ballot, and previous years' ballots.

2.       Report on gubernatorial appointments:

Three trustees have been appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels.  Jack M. Gill and Derica W. Rice will each serve three-terms, beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2010.  Arthur D. King, a junior at IU Bloomington, has been named the student trustee, and will serve a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2009.

4.       Appointment of Board of Trustees committees.

5.       Action Item:  Approval is requested for the minutes of April 6, 2007, which include the Administrative Action Report of April 5, 2007. 

6.       Action Item:  Approval is requested for the appointment of Michael A. McRobbie to the Riley Children’s Foundation, completing the term begun by Clarence W. Boone Sr., beginning November 15, 2006 and ending Nov. 18, 2009.

For Karen Hanson, Rudy Professor of Philosophy, College of Arts and Sciences, the additional title of Executive Vice President, Indiana University and Provost, Indiana University Bloomington, beginning July 31, 2007, while dropping the title of Dean of the Hutton Honors College.

For Edwin C. Marshall, Professor of Optometry, School of Optometry, and Adjunct Professor of Public Health, School of Medicine, the additional title of Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs, beginning September 1, 2007, while dropping the title of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Administration.
