The University Architect's Office is responsible for the oversight of all projects which create or modify any physical facility at each of the campuses of Indiana University, including buildings, space within buildings, and the campus grounds. We strive to create an environment which enriches the teaching, learning and research environment at Indiana University.
In order to accomplish this, the University Architect’s Office (UAO) must take the long view of each of our campuses, trying to ensure that the campus facilities are sustainable into the future. UAO must also comply with state regulations that govern how large projects are approved by the state.
UAO hires consultants (architects and engineers) as well as construction contractors to work on most of these projects. UAO staff direct the work of the outside architectural firms hired for projects and act as the university’s representatives, coordinators and project managers.
