Cyber Infrastructure Building (CIB) and Data Center

Bloomington, Indiana  IU 2005509  IU Bldg.# BL578 & BL579

Indiana University proposes construction of the Cyber Infrastructure Building (CIB) on the Bloomington campus. The building will be located east of the 45/46 Bypass and north of Tenth Street, at the University School Complex. This facility will consist of a separated and hardened structure (built to withstand natural disasters), which will house a data center and machine room, and a larger building that will accommodate University Information Technology Services (UITS), meeting facilities, campus-wide and statewide technology support facilities and building-wide support facilities.

This facility will provide a structure capable of protecting the university’s core information technology infrastructure from most natural disasters while also bringing the University Information Technology Services staff together to work more efficiently and effectively than currently is possible. As home to one of the world’s largest and most advanced technology environment, this structure will help IU continue to attract even more external support and conduct vital research in the life sciences and other areas of discovery dependent upon advanced high-speed computing and technology capabilities.
