James Capshew
Associate Professor, Department of History and Philosophy of Science

TOPIC: HERMAN B. WELLS ...A BIOGRAPHY

Imagine living with a larger than life figure such as Herman B. Wells! James Capshew had that enviable job in the late 1970's. When he was a student at Indiana University, he worked as a houseboy for Wells at the chancellor's residence on Tenth Street. At the present time Dr. Capshew, an associate professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, is researching and writing a book on the life and times of Wells. Capshew will speak on highlights of Wells' career, including some little-known facets of his life, to make this a talk you won't want to miss. James Capshew received his BA in Psychology from IU. He earned his MA and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as editor of the "History of Psychology", a research magazine. One of his many research interests concerns the history and culture of Indiana University. Having worked on the Wells biography for over eight years, it is due to be published in 2010.
