Indiana University Club Reaches ‘In Perpetuity’ Goal
after Second Year of Scholarship Campaign
This month the University Club launches the third
year of its efforts to raise money to provide
University Club Scholarships for Indiana
University students, furthering our efforts to
foster collegiality among our members and the
campus. During last year’s efforts we reached our
initial goal of $10,000, which means that the
University Club Scholarships will be presented in
perpetuity. Thank you for your efforts in making
this happen.
For the past two years scholarships have been
awarded to student employees of the Indiana
Memorial Union who have an exemplary work record.
The student must plan to return to campus for
future study, must be taking a minimum of 12
hours of academic work, and must have a
cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5.
The second two University Club Scholarships were
presented last March to Nicole Rothstein and
Patrick Giese.
Our goal this year is to “grow” the endowment. We
hope, of course, that over the years this
endowment will grow and many scholarships can be
given to worthy students each year.
The Indiana University Foundation handles the
funds. Contributions may be tax-deductible on
federal tax returns and may also be eligible for
the Indiana College Credit on state tax returns,
depending on your personal circumstances.
New this year is a reproduction of the University
Club’s T.C. Steele painting of Brown County that
will be given to contributors of $100 or more.
The original was purchased by the Men’s Faculty
Club in 1914 and hangs on the west wall of the
President’s Room.
We hope that we can count on your continued
support in this very worthwhile effort.–Ruth
Albright, Scholarship Committee Chair
