Make an Appointment
Making an appointment to see your advisor is easy and convenient using our StarNet advising system. Follow these steps:
Go to https://starnet.indiana.edu/.
Log in with your IU username and passphrase.
Select “Schedule an Appointment” from the menu on the left side of the page.
Select your academic advisor from the “Active Advisor List” or use the “Search for Advisor” feature to find your advsor.
Click on “View Calendar.”
Choose an open appointment time that fits your schedule.
Enter your information requested to reserve the time and make a note of the date and time in your own calendar.
An email reminder will be sent to your IU email account the day before your appointment. If you want to check your appointment time or need to cancel or reschedule, you can do that through StarNet too.
If you are unable to find your advisor’s calendar or you’re not sure who your advisor is, call the UD Advising Office at (812) 855-6768 during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday).
UD advisors also offer walk-in advising for quick questions or pressing issues that can’t wait until the next available appointment. Walk-in appointments are typically limited to 10 minutes or less and don’t take the place of regular advising appointments.
Walk-in hours vary from advisor to advisor, but the following options are generally available during the academic year:
- Maxwell Hall 101 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday)
- Briscoe Academic Support Centers (6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday)
- Teter Academic Support Centers (6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday and Wednesday)
See your advisor’s profile under Meet the Advisors for information about their individual walk-in hours (if applicable).
During the summer term and breaks in the academic year, call (812) 855-6768 to ask about availability.
UD also offers phone-in advising for quick questions or pressing issues when you can’t get in to see an advisor in person. Phone-in advising is available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday during the academic year. Call (812) 855-6768. Availability varies during the summer term and during breaks in the academic year.
