First Steps

Students walking on steps at Wells Library

Congratulations on being admitted to Indiana University Bloomington!

As you begin to make the transition from high school to college, you’re going to have a lot of questions.  In University Division, your first official “home” at IUB, academic advisors are experienced with helping students as they prepare for college life and academic work.  We look forward to working together with you at orientation, and over the next year, as you ask and answer the questions that will help you find your way.

Fortunately, not every question has to be answered before you start at IUB.  But the five “First Steps” below cover the most essential questions.  It’s important for you to complete these steps as you prepare for your academic advising appointment at orientation. If you will do your part, we promise to do ours in helping you take the best and most successful first steps toward a degree at IUB.
