- Visit the Exploratory Student Resources Website.
- Meet with your assigned academic advisor to get acquainted and get started.
- Attend a Choosing Your Major workshop sponsored by Exploratory Student Resources. A list of dates,
times, and locations is available from your academic advisor or on the ESR web site.
- Visit the Majors and Careers Website where
you can find information about all IU majors,
IU career centers and department offices, majors/career fairs on campus, and other web links.
- Go to the Career Resource Library in the Career Development Center
(625 North Jordan Avenue) and ask for a tour of the library and an overview of the resources and computer tools available there.
- Find the IU Bloomington Undergraduate Library Career Reference Collection on the Undergraduate side of the Main Library. You may need to use the main library's career collection during evening hours or over week-ends.
- Schedule an appointment with a career counselor at IUs Career Counseling Services (CCS) by calling 855-0527.
- Set up your personal exploration plan. See The Decision-Making Process and get help from your academic advisor.
- Meet during office hours with instructors of any introductory courses youre taking this semester.
- Schedule follow-up meeting(s) as needed with your academic advisor.

October
- Attend a Choosing Your Major workshop offered by Exploratory Student Resources. A list of dates, times, and locations is available from your academic advisor or on the ESR web site.
- Meet with a CCS career counselor (you scheduled this during September).
- Take interest and/or personality inventories that are recommended by the CCS Career Counselor.
- Schedule appointments to meet with academic departments' advisors and professors (if available) for majors
that you are exploring - your academic advisor or ESR can help you do this.
- Schedule follow-up meeting(s) as needed with your academic advisor (at least once mid-October).
- Conduct major and career research at the Career Resource Library and Undergraduate Library Career Reference Collection.
- Check academic department offices for curricular and career-related information (see Majors and Careers Series web site for list).
- Finish your major and career research at the Career Resource Library, Main Library, department offices, etc
- Attend majors and career fairs and expos on campus (see Majors and Careers Series web site for list).
- Look at the the IU Alumni Allies listing (available at the Career Resource Library in the Career Development Center) for information about IU graduates who work in professional career fields and are available to talk to you about their careers. Schedule meetings for November or winter break.

November
- Continue all research activities as needed.
- Analyze the information you have gathered; evaluate major/career alternatives.
- Narrow your major and career choices as much as possible by early November advisor meeting.
- Meet with your academic advisor early November (schedule this meeting well in advance) to plan your spring semester courses for your narrowed-down list of exploratory majors.
- Meet with Alumni Allies (if scheduled) while at home for November break.

- Study for final exams!
- Finish preliminary research activities.
- Schedule meetings and/or job-shadowing days with Alumni Allies for dates over the winter break.
- See your academic advisor: if you have chosen your major, complete and submit the Change of Major form; if you are still exploratory, review your progress and schedule your next planning meeting for January.
