A Guide to the Recommendation Service

Overview

One of the many services the Health Professions and Prelaw Center provides is a recommendation service for students that are applying to programs in law, medicine, and other health professions.

Students can open a "Recommendation File" anytime and we keep the file for up to ten (10) years after graduation.

A "Recommendation File" is used to hold "Faculty" and "Professional/Personal" recommendations that the student has obtained while at Indiana University. Our HPPLC advisors highly suggest that a student obtain a recommendation from their instructor as soon as possible after having that instructor for a class and the student is fresh in their minds.

When the student is applying for professional school, their recommendations are prepared in packets, and sent to the school(s) the student is applying to.

You may download a PDF of the "Recommendation Guide", which describes the complete process, or view it below.

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY Questions regarding the Recommendation Service are to be sent to recserve@indiana.edu. ALL other questions should be directed to hpplc@indiana.edu.
