Making Changes to Your IU Retirement Plan Account
The IU Retirement Plan is a self-directed plan. This
means that the participant is responsible for overseeing his or
her account and directing its investment. The three basic
ways to direct investments are described on this page.
Change Your Current Investment Allocation
-
To change the current allocations of your account,
you must contact the investment company directly: TIAA-CREF
or Fidelity Investments. See their contact information below.
Direct Future Contributions to a Different
Investment Company
-
Establish (or have previously established) a
plan account at the new investment company by completing the
company's account application.
Note: If you have a current account at the
new investment company (i.e., an account that has received contributions
within the last 12 months), you do not have to complete a new
account application.
-
Complete an IU Retirement Plan Investment Company
Change form.
- Return the completed change form and the account application
(if applicable) to the campus Human Resources office no later
than 30 days prior to the next pay date.
The office will process the change as soon as administratively
feasible once it receives the forms. The change cannot become
effective retroactively.
Transfer Accumulations from One Investment
Company to Another
-
Establish (or have previously established) a
plan account at the new investment company by completing the
company's account application.
Note: If you have a current account at the
new investment company (i.e., an account that has received contributions
within the last 12 months), you do not have to complete a new
account application.
-
Contact the former investment company and ask to transfer your accumulations to the new company.
