New Prescription Benefit Manager for 2012
As required by recent state legislation, all IU employee medical plans will switch to the Indiana Aggregate Prescription Purchasing Agreement for prescription benefit administration effective January 1, 2012. Medco, Inc. will replace:
- ExpressScripts (PPO and HDHP plans)
- Clarian pharmacies/PerformRx (IU Health Quality Partners plan)
Medco has a broad network of retail prescription pharmacies that will allow most members continued use of the same retail pharmacies; however, mail order prescriptions will change to Medco's facility. The new pharmacy network includes most retail chain pharmacies, such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and most supermarket pharmacy chains. Some independent pharmacies are included also. More information will be provided during Open Enrollment to help medical plan members obtain refills and place new prescription orders. A new ID card, separate from the medical ID cards, will be mailed to plan enrollees prior to January 1.
When employees or their family members have a chronic condition it is not always easy to keep track of medications and detailed treatment regimens. Anthem's ConditionCare program, available to individuals covered by IU's PPO and HDHP plans, helps patients better understand their illness and follow their physician's plan. ConditionCare enhances the doctor's treatment plan through the use of a dedicated nurse, plus a team of health professionals including dietitians, exercise physiologists, and pharmacists.
Nurses in ConditionCare may offer services to members through their treating physician. Members may also enroll directly by calling Anthem at 888-279-5449 and selecting the "Condition Care" voice prompt. Examples of chronic conditions assisted by this program include:
- coronary artery disease (CAD)
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- heart failure
My Health Care Manager, Inc., made a business decision to cease operations of the Eldercare Program. This benefit provided resources to employees in a caregiver role for an aging parent or other loved one. As a result, these services are no longer a part of IU's employee benefit program.
