Medical and Dental Care IU Contribution Policy for Medical and Dental Care Plans 2009
Indiana University contributes the same amount to an employee's medical and dental care coverage regardless of the plan selected, with a minimum employee contribution for employee-only coverage of $5 per month and $10 per month for coverage that includes one or more family members. The employee's payroll contribution equals the difference between the IU contribution and the total premium for the associated plan. IU contributes a greater amount for Support and Service Staff employees with an annual base salary of less than $28,143, with a minimum monthly premium of $3.50 for employee-only and $7.00 for coverage that includes one or more family members.
The employee's total cost for care under a particular medical or dental care plan equals payroll contributions, plus any deductible and copays required by the plan. Employee contributions are paid through pre-tax salary reductions. Also see TSB Premium Conversion.
