How can you earn your high school diploma while studying ballet during the day and performing at night? By studying at your own pace through Indiana University High School.
Kathryn Morgan began dancing as a toddler, and studied with the Mobile (Alabama) Ballet before entering the School of American Ballet, the teaching arm of the New York City Ballet, in 2002. She became an apprentice with the New York City Ballet in June 2006 and joined the corps de ballet in February 2007.
With Indiana University High School, Morgan was able to dance full time and to thereby focus on her career. “I love the flexibility,” explained Morgan. “I need something that lets me work on my time. Also, the online courses have been really great. I love getting the feedback so quickly.”
Morgan recently danced as Juliet in the Ballet’s production of Romeo and Juliet, and received great reviews in the New York Times. Morgan is well on her way toward making her dream of becoming a principal dancer a reality.
