Art MuseumMetropolitan arts and entertainment
From world-famous concert artists and professional dance troupes to internationally known rock bands and speakers, something is scheduled nearly every night of the school year. IU's renowned School of Music presents a variety of performances and concerts (many of them free), which range from opera, symphony and show music to Latin and jazz. Throughout the years, IU has hosted such illustrious speakers as the Dalai Lama of Tibet, Mikhail Gorbachev, Spike Lee, Tipper Gore, Jorge Castañeda, Noam Chomsky, and Donna Shalala. These not-to-be-missed events are generally free and open to the public.

In the mood for something quiet? Visit any one of our special libraries, museums, or art galleries: The IU Art Museum designed by I. M. Pei hosts an exceptional collection of more than 35,000 art objects, including Picassos and Monets; the Lilly Library is one of America's finest collections of rare books and manuscripts, including a Gutenberg Bible; and the SOFA Gallery features works of art by School of Fine Arts' students and local artists.
