JOB PURPOSE:
Provides oversight and participates in the preparation of meeting and banquet rooms including cleaning, set-ups and removal of equipment, and maintainence of equipment. Coordinates activities of workers involved in providing set-up support.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads and interprets set-up sheets.
Oversees and assists with University meeting and banquet room set-ups.
Installs air walls.
Assembles and operates University public address equipment including VCRs, TVs, projector screens, computers, monitors, etc.
Inspects equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or outside service contractors for repairs.
Interviews, selects, and discharges hourly, part time and temorary employees; evaluates the performance and conformance to regulations; recommends appropriate personnel action.
Consults with supervisor and other personnel to resolve problems, such as equipment performance, output quality, and work schedules.
Trains employees in work and safety procedures and company policies.Drives vehicle as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties.
Ability to operate the machinery and equipment used in area of expertise including Public Address systems, VCRs, TVs, spotlights, projectors, screens, overheads, cordless microphones, electrical lighting equipment, and other basic hand tools.
Ability to interpret blue prints or other sketches and drawings.
General knowledge of furniture repair.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year set up experience. Previous experience as a lead worker preferred.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Spends most time indoors, possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus when working outdoors. Possible exposure to distraction/uncomfortable noise levels. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc.
