JOB TITLE AND GRADE: Snack Bar Attendant / SMOG

JOB CODE: 001088

JOB PURPOSE:

Under direct supervision, maintains appropriate food levels, proper presentation, and proper service to customers.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Brews coffee and tea, and fill containers with requested beverages.

Prepares food and drinks such as sandwiches, popcorn, soups, salads, and coffee using standard formulas or following directions.

Replenishes foods at serving stations.

Balance receipts and payments in cash registers.

Prepares bills for food, using cash registers, calculators, or adding machines; and accept payment and make change.

Scrubs and polishes counters, steam tables, and other equipment and cleans glasses, dishes, and fountain equipment.

Under supervision, orders staple items to be stored in dry storage area.

Receives all food and other supplies for food service unit. Stores all items in appropriate areas.

Delivers food and supplies to kitchen departments as ordered on daily requisition.

Responsible for record keeping and security of dry storage area and for refrigerated areas not accessible to other kitchen departments.

Maintains all storage areas in clean and sanitary manner.

Performs related duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of standard kitchen practices.

Knowledge of basic kitchen sanitation methods.

Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to perform work requiring considerable standing and medium-heavy physical effort.

Acceptable standards of personal cleanliness.

Ability to prepare some of the records used in food costing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Some high school

Experience: No experience required

Required Certifications/Licenses:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, climbing, balancing, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Spends most time indoors. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
