JOB PURPOSE:
Serves as a four-year apprentice to journey-level workers and performs the duties of the craft while assuming greater responsibility in each program year.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs the duties of a worker in the area of expertise for four-years, assuming great responsibilities each year. (See job specification for area of expertise for details).
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Drives vehicle as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate power and hand tools used in area of expertise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: No experience required
Required Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Spends most time indoors with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus when working outdoors. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body or extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
