JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing the smooth, efficient, and correct performance of position duties of a small crew of employees working in a specific area of expertise.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates activities of workers. Directs and leads workers and assigns duties. Inspects jobs for use of proper procedures and timely completion.
Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training.
Monitors or patrols work area and enforces safety or sanitation regulations.
Performs duties of the area of expertise. (See job specifications for area(s) of expertise).
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Drives vehicle if needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties.
Ability to operate the specific tools used in the area of expertise, including related tools and equipment.
Ability to operate a personal computer. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and MMS software.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Three-years experience in area of expertise, preferably at Indiana University Bloomington
Required Certifications/Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most time spent indoors with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body or extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
