JOB TITLE AND GRADE: Equipment Room Attendant / SMOK

JOB PURPOSE:

Cleans, repairs, and reconditions athletic equipment and uniforms and assists in performing periodic inventories.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the maintenance of the locker room, equipment room, and laundry operation activities.

Cleans, repairs, and reconditions athletic equipment and uniforms.

Operates washer, dryer, and sewing machine to wash and repair linens.

Issues equipment to eligible patrons: head coaches, assistant coaches, graduate assistants, trainers, and individual athletes.

Orders and prepares uniforms and equipment for intercollegiate contests.

Inspects and disposes of non-usable clothing and equipment.

Operates equipment room in the absence of the equipment manager.

Performs other tasks as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to interpret and follow simple oral and written instructions.

Must possess good organizational and communication skills.

Ability to perform basic computer and database operations.

Some knowledge of the record keeping duties associated with maintaining patron locker records.

Ability to perform work requiring medium-heavy physical effort.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Some high school

Experience: One-year experience in equipment/locker room or sports facilities operation and maintenance.

Required Certifications/Licenses:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Spends most time indoors with possible exposure to extreme hot when working with washing equipment. Possible exposure to distraction/uncomfortable noise levels. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
