JOB TITLE AND GRADE: Locker/Laundry Attendant / SMOJ

JOB PURPOSE:

Provides personal items to patrons in locker rooms.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers customer inquiries; and explains cost, availability, policies, and procedures of facilities.

Unlocks locker room and pool doors for classes and swim team members, and secures area when not in use.

Exchanges clean towels. Washes, dries, folds, and stores towels.

Patrols locker room at least once each half hour.

Cleans dryer lint traps once daily and cleans pipe once a month.

Assists patrons in opening their lockers and finding lost articles.

Keeps a record of keys used for locker room doors during the day.

Cleans all empty lockers. Sorts, stores, and rotates locks and puts new ones on lockers.

Completes new locker assignment cards.

Cleans office and keeps it orderly on a regular basis.

Dispenses equipment to classes as requested by instructors. Inflates sports equipment (basketballs and volleyballs) for classes each day using electric pump.

Completes checklist, refund, and credit forms for locker rooms and sends to Bursar's Office.

Performs other tasks as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to interpret and follow simple oral and written instructions.

Ability to maintain cordial working relationships with other employees and locker room patrons.

Good organizational and communication skills.

Ability to perform basic computer and database operations.

Knowledge of the record keeping duties associated with maintaining patron locker records.

Ability to perform work requiring medium-heavy physical effort.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Some high school

Experience: One-year experience in locker room or sports facilities operation and maintenance.

Required Certifications/Licenses:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, walking, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Spends most time indoors with possible exposure to extreme hot when working with washing equipment. Possible exposure to distraction/uncomfortable noise levels. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
